iHUB DivyaSampark, the Technology Innovation Hub at IIT Roorkee, has launched a six-month, fully online Post Graduate Certificate in Agentic Systems & Production AI in collaboration with education company Emeritus. The 24-week programme opens on 22 December 2026 and is aimed squarely at experienced engineers who need to move AI systems out of the pilot stage and run them reliably at enterprise scale.
From experiments to production
The launch responds to a gap that many Indian enterprises now face: AI adoption is widespread, but scaling it is not. Citing McKinsey’s The State of AI in 2026 report, the programme notes that while close to 90% of organisations use AI regularly, only 44% have scaled it across the enterprise and just 37% report any EBIT impact. Among large organisations, 40% have scaled AI agents, up from 27% a year earlier, which is pushing demand for engineers who can deploy, monitor and secure such systems.
What the curriculum covers
The course is built around four operational disciplines: MLOps, LLMOps, RAGOps and AgentOps. Learners will work through:
- automated ML pipelines, experiment tracking and model registries;
- LLM hosting, inference serving, vector databases and retrieval infrastructure;
- agent runtimes, deployment, observability and operational controls; and
- cloud-native engineering with Docker, Kubernetes and Terraform, along with high availability, disaster recovery, SLAs/SLOs, access control and audit logging.
Hands-on work spans more than 25 tools, including Kubernetes, Terraform, Airflow, MLflow, vLLM, KServe, LangGraph, Prometheus, Grafana and Milvus. Participants complete six graded mini projects and a capstone on Enterprise ModelOps and LLM infrastructure.
Format, eligibility and fee
Classes run in three-hour sessions every Saturday and Sunday, with a weekly commitment of 8–10 hours. Industry practitioners lead the weekly sessions, supplemented by about 12 hours of live masterclasses from IIT and other premier-institute faculty. Applicants need a bachelor’s degree or diploma with at least three years of work experience, intermediate Python, and working familiarity with AWS, Git, Docker, Kubernetes and CI/CD. The programme is explicitly not meant for beginners.
The fee is ₹1,50,000 plus GST. Learners who complete the course can opt for a two-day campus immersion at IIT Roorkee’s Noida campus, and career services are offered through recorded Emeritus content. The target cohort includes DevOps, cloud, SRE and platform engineers, software and backend developers, ML/AI and data engineers, architects, tech leads and engineering managers.
Manish Anand, Chief Executive Officer of iHUB DivyaSampark, IIT Roorkee, said the programme is designed to help experienced engineers build the capabilities needed to take AI from pilot to production through hands-on learning and industry collaboration.
Why it matters
Most AI upskilling in India so far has focused on model-building and prompt-level skills. This programme reflects a shift towards the operational side of AI, where reliability, cost, security and governance decide whether a deployment succeeds. iHUB DivyaSampark was set up under the Department of Science & Technology’s National Mission on Interdisciplinary Cyber-Physical Systems (NM-ICPS), and its move into production-grade AI training signals how IIT-linked hubs are using online delivery to reach working professionals at scale. The real measure will be whether graduates can carry these practices into the engineering teams now being asked to run agentic AI in production.
