The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has opened an interactive, technology-led Education Experience Centre at its Integrated Office Complex in Sector 23, Dwarka, New Delhi, inaugurated on October 27, 2026. Spread across roughly 6,000 sq ft, the facility is organised into 12 zones with 21 exhibits that walk students through the evolution of Indian education, the history of the board itself, science and the environment, and the careers that are likely to define the coming decades.
The centre marks a shift in how the country’s largest school board presents its work, moving from circulars and handbooks towards an immersive space where learners can explore ideas through activity, simulation and self-discovery.
RFID cards, holograms and a personalised journey
Each visiting student is issued an RFID-enabled smart card that unlocks activities across the zones, allowing the experience to adapt to individual interests rather than following a fixed route. Among the highlights are hologram installations of Dr B.R. Ambedkar and Dr A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, designed to offer a conversation-style encounter with their ideas and contributions to the nation.
The visit opens with a short film, Shiksha Ki Kahani (The Story of Education), narrated through the voice of the Saraswati river. It traces India’s learning traditions from the gurukul system and ancient centres such as Nalanda to today’s schools and digital classrooms. A dedicated section documents CBSE’s own journey through archival photographs and records dating back to 1935.
From Earth’s history to the future of work
An interactive timeline helps students understand geological change on the planet over millions of years, while career-focused exhibits such as Career Explorer, Future of Professions and Magic Mirror: Future You help them map their interests to existing and emerging professions. An Exam Warriors kiosk offers practical guidance on managing board-examination stress and building confidence.
The final section, branded the Eduverse, uses immersive environments to transport visitors to forests, oceans, the Himalayas, the Moon and other planets, reinforcing the links between ecosystems and each individual’s role in protecting the environment.
Built as an AI-powered digital experience centre
The project has been in the works for over a year. CBSE’s governing body discussed a proposal for an AI-powered digital experience centre at the Dwarka office in June 2025, and the board subsequently floated a request for proposals to select an implementation agency for the facility.
Details on public access, school visit schedules and registration are yet to be formally notified, and schools are advised to watch CBSE’s official channels for visitor guidelines.
Why it matters
The National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 calls for experiential, inquiry-based and competency-focused learning, along with stronger career guidance at the secondary stage. By bringing heritage, science, wellbeing and career exploration together in a single tech-enabled space, CBSE is modelling the kind of hands-on learning environment it wants affiliated schools to adopt. Given the size of its affiliated-school network, the board’s own showcase could also serve as a template for district-level and school-level experience labs that use smart cards, immersive media and interactive displays to make learning more engaging.
