The Uttar Pradesh government has approved a plan to upgrade 14,429 primary schools under the Basic Education Council with smart school facilities. The decision was taken during a Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
₹300 Crore Set Aside for the Project
Finance Minister Suresh Kumar Khanna said the state has made a budget provision of ₹300 crore for the initiative.
Under the approved plan, each selected school will receive around ₹2.07 lakh to support the development of digital and smart learning facilities.
Internet and ICT Facilities for Schools
The upgraded schools will get internet connectivity and ICT facilities, allowing teachers to bring digital resources into regular classroom teaching.
The infrastructure is expected to help teachers use technology-based learning material and make lessons more interactive for students.
Focus on Government Primary Schools
The initiative will primarily strengthen the learning environment in government primary schools, where access to digital education tools can help expand the resources available to teachers and students.
With internet and ICT facilities available at the school level, teachers will have greater scope to use digital content as part of classroom instruction.
Technology Push in School Education
The smart school programme is part of Uttar Pradesh’s efforts to bring more technology into school education. The government expects the new facilities to support modern teaching methods and give students greater exposure to digital learning from the primary level.
