REVA University Inaugurates Online Education Centre

REVA University inaugurated its Centre for Distance & Online Education in Bengaluru on 5 November 2026, opening BBA, BCA, MBA and MCA for January 2027.

REVA University inaugurated its Centre for Distance and Online Education (CDOE) in Bengaluru on 5 November 2026, with Chancellor Dr. P. Shyama Raju leading the ceremony. The centre will offer online BBA, BCA, MBA and MCA programmes from the January 2027 admission cycle.

Registrar Dr. M. Dhanamjaya, Registrar (Evaluation) Dr. Beena G, Pro Vice-Chancellors Dr. K. S. Narayanswamy and Dr. Y. Ramalingareddy, and CDOE Director Gautam Gupte attended the inauguration, according to a Business Standard / ANI press release dated 6 November 2026. The move adds to a wider push for approved UGC ODL and online programmes across Indian higher education.

What REVA online education programmes cover

CDOE starts with four degrees delivered through an integrated learning management system (LMS) that combines live and recorded lectures, e-books, a digital library, discussion forums, assignments, quizzes and proctored examinations under a four-quadrant approach:

  • BBA and BCA — three years, six semesters, 120 credits each. BBA offers dual specialisation in Banking and Finance; BCA electives include AI and Data, Security, and Software and Product.
  • MBA and MCA — two years, four semesters, 96 credits each. MBA has six dual-specialisation pathways; MCA focuses on AI, machine learning, cloud and big data.

Continuous internal assessment carries 30% of the grade, with a 70% weight on the semester-end proctored exam. Administrative and technical queries are to be answered within 24 hours, and academic queries within 48 hours. Similar LMS-led models have been expanding elsewhere, including MIT-WPU’s move of 25,000 learners to D2L Brightspace and Chandigarh University Online’s CU LMS app.

Admissions, eligibility and January 2027 cycle

Admissions are open for the January 2027 cycle. REVA will run two intake windows each year — January and July. Undergraduate applicants need 10+2 with at least 50% marks (45% for reserved categories). Postgraduate applicants need a bachelor’s degree with 50% (45% reserved); MCA offers a bridge path for non-computer-science graduates. Programme details and applications are listed at www.online.reva.edu.in.

The launch comes as other institutions recalibrate distance offerings — for example, Jiwaji University halted 2026–27 distance admissions — while national open universities such as IGNOU continue to extend ODL and online windows.

Why it matters for NEP 2020 access goals

Registrar Dr. M. Dhanamjaya linked the centre to the National Education Policy 2020 target of raising India’s Gross Enrolment Ratio (GER) in higher education to 50% by 2035. Flexible online pathways in management and computing are aimed at working professionals and learners who cannot relocate to a campus, while keeping assessment and learner support on defined service levels.
