India is strengthening its digital education ecosystem through the integration of the Academic Bank of Credits (ABC) and APAAR, two key initiatives aimed at making academic records more secure, accessible, and student-friendly. Together, these platforms are simplifying the way students manage their educational journey while supporting a more flexible and transparent higher education system.
The Academic Bank of Credits (ABC) serves as a digital repository where students can securely store and transfer credits earned from recognised higher education institutions. This enables learners to continue their studies across institutions without losing academic progress, in line with the vision of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
Meanwhile, APAAR provides every student with a unique digital academic identity that securely links educational records throughout their learning journey. The platform helps reduce paperwork, simplifies verification of certificates, and improves access to academic credentials for admissions, scholarships, and employment opportunities.

The integration of ABC and APAAR is also enhancing the efficiency of educational institutions by enabling faster record management and secure sharing of verified academic data. As more schools, colleges, and universities adopt these platforms, students are expected to benefit from greater academic mobility and easier access to lifelong educational records.
The initiative marks another significant step in India’s efforts to build a digitally empowered education ecosystem. By leveraging technology to improve governance and student services, ABC and APAAR are laying the foundation for a more connected, transparent, and future-ready education system that supports learners at every stage of their academic journey.
